What do I need for rehearsal?
- MUSIC - this may seem obvious, but we've all done "that thing."
- Marching music must be in clear plastic sheet protectors in a 3 ring binder.
- Marching sheet music to be found here.
- PENCIL - the most important tool in a musician’s arsenal. Music is constantly being tweaked and modified. It is imperative you bring a pencil to mark in these changes.
- Sticks/Mallets
- Snares: Vic Firth Mike Jackson
- Tenors: Vic Firth Colin McNutt
- Basses: Innovative Percussion FBX Series
- Bass 1-2: FBX-1
- Bass 3-4: FBX-2

- Front Ensemble Mallets: mallets provided
- Closed toe, closed heel athletic shoes
- Practice pad (recommended)
- Athletic wear (loose workout clothing if you have it)
- Hearing protection (highly recommended)
- Water bottle
- COMMITMENT TO EXCELLENCE – The excellence you strive for in rehearsal will be the excellence you achieve in performance.
Attendance
This is a performance-based activity. Consistent attendance at rehearsals is crucial to our success as an ensemble.
Attendance for Marching Band
School Related Conflicts
It is expected that students who choose to participate in several activities or classes that have an “after-school” practice/performance component will make every effort to completely fulfill their obligation to each group. In many cases, splitting time equally between the two simultaneous activities is the best compromise.

In many cases, splitting time equally between the two simultaneous activities is the best compromise.
- Performances/games take precedence over practice/rehearsal
- Performance/game conflicts should be resolved with full understanding and cooperation of all involved including complete and open communication between the students, teachers, parents, and coaches.
- Given good communication and enough advanced notification, conflicting events can usually be resolved to both party’s satisfaction.
Video Assignments
On occasion, marching ensembles will ask members to submit video assignments for individual assessment. These assignments are an easy way for the staff to give individual feedback to students and develop the individual musician. Details will be communicated by staff members on the season expectations regarding video assignments. It is expected that videos will be submitted given proper and timely notification.
